If your consumption has grown — for example through an electric car or heat pump — an existing installation can often be expanded with extra panels. The installer first assesses whether your current inverter can handle the expansion and whether the new roof surface is suitable in terms of orientation and shade.
For an expansion you pay € 1,500 to € 4,000, depending on the number of extra panels and whether an additional or heavier inverter is needed. Note: your original panel type is not always still available; the installer then advises a matching combination or a separate string on its own inverter.
Mention the brand and type of your current inverter in your request if you know it — then the quote is right first time.
